Telecheck partners with EWS

As if it wasn't bad enough that the majority of people that are reported to Chexsystems are also reported to Early Warning Services(EWS) but now the unfortunate news today is that those with Telecheck issues are also reported to EWS.

Early Warning Systems ( previously Primary Payment Systems ) is now being used by banks and credit unions the same as chexsystems. Several organizations have partnered with Early Warning Services to help increase awareness and make the following services more accessible to credit unions.

EWS also signed a multi-year contract with eFunds Corp(chexsystems) April 2007. EWS meets the FCRA definition of a credit reporting agency. Like chexsystems you have the right to dispute with EWS. Send a dispute letter - certified, return receipt disputing what is in their database. They must investigate and verify with the bank or credit union as to what they are reporting. They have 30 days to respond. Most people have not been able to get removal from EWS.

Those wishing to obtain consumer report information should contact their Consumer Call Center at 800-325-7775. From what I have been told it is much easier to get a copy of your report with EWS than it is with Chexsystems. Apparently they will email you a form that you can mail or fax back to them.

Early Warning Services is a limited liability company owned by Bank of America, BB&T Corporation, JPMorgan Chase, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo. Beware that all of those banks do use EWS. If you apply for an account and they later find out that you have been reported, they will more than likely close it.

On a good note, I was able to find a new credit union for North and South Dakota. It seems to be a really good one that doesn't use chexsystems. And the other news is that Compass seems to be approving quite a few people for a second chance account that they now offer. I will be keeping a close eye on that situation.
